If you're stuck digging a hole with your bare hands and is given the option of using a shovel, would you reject the shovel because it's somehow "wiser" to do so? No, it sounds more like taking pride in one's own suffering.īecause pets are in exception to everything else. Wouldn't it incentivize you to abandon your previous area of limited resources to take advantage of the ability to use more wants? Wouldn't it be better to raise and upgrade the old system to meet and match the new one? Otherwise almost all of what you're going to see for companions in the forseeable future will be MOAs. Hence it will start to feel more and more restricting in the wake of being buried in so many choices, especially when you have new competitors (the MOA) coming out with far more flexible choices and options. It's about facing an ever-increasing pool of resources while being forced to process it with increasingly outdated equipment (Kubrow mod system created years ago and copied over for Kavats and chargers, flaws included). Based on the extreme limitations, it would be far more important if anything.Įxcept that in this case, it's not about unlimited wants vs limited resources. I am looking at your example and not seeing how "choosing wisely" wouldn't be the order of the day. If you don't make wise choices, then you are going to have a bad time. You have unlimited wants, and limited resources. I know that's why I said "choosing wisely". Lets be honest here, people would rather want their pet survive and fetch the stuff than to deal massive damage so they will use Fetch and Link Health/Armor/Shield and Medi-Pet Kit as well as whatever the name of the mod that heals your pet when you melee. And that is in a way just one more reason to give a different weapon slot for pets, since Fetch is taking a spot from those attack mods. Hate to say but I might actually use it now. Sentinels are also superior to majority of players due to how Fetch works, from what I've heard at least, so pets could use a buff to put them on the level.Įdit: so sentinels are not superior to most players anymore due to Fetch being changed to pick items up from where the warframe is. Granted, pets can do both even now but at the expense of some other mods like Animal Instict, Medi-pet Kit and pet-spesific mods like Charm for smeeta. Don't think it'd be terrible powercreep and you wouldn't have to choose between pet dealing a lot of damage or being able to take a beating. I doubt that this could be implemented anytime soon, given that companions have so few offensive mods in general. This idea would also allow players to set a passive behavior on kubrow/kavat/chargers, just unequip "natural attack" and the animal will no longer attack enemies short of any offensive precepts left equipped. These mods should be moved into a new "weapon slot" for companions called "natural attack" or something to that effect. The introduction of new Companion set and elemental+status damage mods (Frost Jaw etc.) only introduces a greater strain of mods to incorporate into a Kubrow/Kavat/Charger's limited space of 10 mod slots, moreso for Kavats because there's more attack behaviour mods to consider. Sure it has a bit of a wonky follow mechanic but it won't have that small chance of running circles around and chasing enemies trying to bite/claw them because it's simply shooting away from a distance. You can disable it from attacking just by taking away the gun. It does not need a mod to tell it to attack enemies. That's 2 freed-up slots for better modding flexibility alongside the potentially powerful link mods that make it near-tanky as conventional companions. All the damage mods go into a sentinel rifle. It does not need to slot in the mandatory Maul/Bite to raise its base damage. Link mods, no loyalty/stability, access to sentinel guns, passive behavior just by removing gun (and attack precepts). What I've learned is that the MOA companion has the strength of both sentinels and animals with few of their weaknesses.
